UPDATE
February 8, 2011
Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here so good to be back.
As most of you probably know i have been incapacitated somewhat, but am pleased to say i am now on the mend, expect to make a full recovery, and will be back in the fold this weekend. Many, many thanks to Martin for holding the fort and ensuring that our kids have been able to continue enjoying football these past few weeks.
From the reports I’ve heard it sounds like the boys have enjoyed being back out there again, and have played some excellent football, most recently in two hard-fought games against Coldean. The BAD news is that our ‘official’ season is, believe it or not, almost at an end already. After our game against Patcham Amber this weekend we have no matches for two weeks, then we play Peacehaven at home on 6 March and our final game of our season is, believe it or not, on 13 March (away against Hollingbury Hawks).
Martin and I are yet to fully discuss the fine details but we are both in agreement that springtime is actually the best time to play youth football so I am going to be arranging a string of friendly games into early summer (for a start we’ll play the league games we missed against Hawks, Peacehaven and Rottingdean, plus Meridian and Sov Saints have requested friendlies and i would like to try and get a game or two against some new opponents). This will take us through to early May when the tournament season begins…this year I anticipate we’ll enter perhaps 2 or 3 and thus give all our squad the chance to enjoy the thrill of tournament football.
In fact, tournament season starts early this year. The first one we are entered for is on Sunday 17th April – conveniently enough at Longhill! Please put this in your diaries and let me know if you are unable to attend.
Thanks,
Damon
